Are websites easy and or cheap?

Well, they can be both easy and cheap, but it can also be like putting together a complex puzzle.  It really just depends on what you need and want from your websites?  For example, you can go the DIY route and try building your own site via one of the cloud-based website providers or you can see if you can find a free theme or even buy a premium theme for under $100 for systems such WordPress, Drupal, Joomla…

Just know that when you go this route, what you get, is what you get.

So, if you need a simple website and you are ok working within the limitations of the theme you’ve chosen, then yes, you can get yourself a cheap website. Note, I said, “cheap”, but not easy.  So, although it may be cheap, it might not be very easy at all. If you are good with instructions, then you might be able to figure out how to configure a site by reading through the developer’s documentation. If you are the type that learns by doing, then you will most likely find yourself going down a trial and error route.

For simple sites, that would include uploading your logo, images, and copy. However, you may need to resize and or crop images and your logo to get things to display correctly. For more complex themes, you might have to enter the hex or rgb/rgba values of the colors you want to use. You might also have to select the font you want to use and the various sizes in pixels and maybe even the numerical values for their weights. Regardless of the complexity of the theme, you will need to know how to configure it with some basic security and SEO settings.

If you are a technically savvy person, then give the DIY route a shot and see how it goes, but if you get stuck and or just don’t want to go down the DIY route at all, then you will most likely need to hire a professional.
